My no.1 beauty essential

If you gave me the choice of the most luxurious beauty products and Baking soda also known as Bicarb soda I would most likely choose Baking soda almost every time. Its not just a kitchen staple its also one of my most used beauty products. I could probably talk all day about the 101 great uses for this wonderful product that you most likely have in your kitchen but I will just tell you the most handy tips that are guaranteed to leave you wondering why you spent so much money on all those expensive beauty products.

no.1 - Face & Body Exfoliator. I have sensitive skin and most exfoliators are irritating and can burn my skin, except for baking soda. I scrub my face and body every other day. For my face I mix a teaspoon baking soda with half a teaspoon of my usual face cleanser in a bowl and scrub my entire face for roughly 30secs. For my body two heaped tablespoons and one tablespoon of my usual body wash should be plenty. Don't forget you should always moisturise after exfoliating, I use a rejuvenating vitamin E cream.

no. 2 - Teeth Whitener. Stop spending hundreds of dollars on teeth whitening that harm your teeth and start using baking soda. Once a week I dip my tooth brush with my tooth paste on it into baking soda and I brush my teeth as usual. I will admit it doesn't taste that great but it really gives your teeth that extra sparkle and for an extra whitening punch make a paste of lemon juice and baking soda. Its sure to get your teeth nice and white.

no.3 - Hair Deep Cleanser. This is great to give your hair that really deep clean to get rid of hairspray/product build up after an event or just from everyday styling. With your normal Shampoo mix half and half of shampoo and baking soda. If its too think to spread through your hair just add more shampoo. I recommend only doing this once a month as it can strip semi permanent colours out of your hair.

no.4 - Removing Unwanted Colour/Hair dye. To remove unwanted colour from your hair is the same as deep cleanse only use a lot more to really make sure you have every strand of hair covered. Once you have it all lathered through tie or clip your hair up out of the way and put a shower cap on, leave it on for 20 mins at a time. You can repeat once a week until you have your desired result. Make sure you treat your hair to moisturising treatment after each use as it can be very drying.

no.5 - Lip Scrub. This little trick will leave you with soft kissable lips. Mix half a tea spoon of baking soda with warm water into a thick paste. Scrub over lips once or twice a week. After scrub moisturise lips with paw paw ointment or lip balm.

no.6 - Bath Treat. When treating yourself to a relaxing bath had 1/2 cup of baking soda along with a few drops of your favourite essential oil and its sure to leave your skin beautiful and soft.

If you don't have any Baking soda in your kitchen cupboard you can buy it from any grocery store in the baking isle for around $2 for 500g. I use McKenzie's (in the picture above) but I am sure all the other brands would be just as good. Baking Soda is not only good for your skin but it good for the environment, its Doesn't contain all the horrible chemicals like most other products do. I hope you found these little tricks easy and hopefully they save you money.
